Groups
Connect, Celebrate, and contribute together
How Groups Work
Groups revolve around two types of meetings:
A monthly Gathering with all group members
Monthly Meetups with one or two other group members
Our Groups Framework
Our Groups revolve around a once a month Group Gathering with all members, and monthly two, three, or four person “meetups” amongst members of the group. Meetup Groups are assigned each month by the Group Leader, and schedule their meetups at their own convenience. The conversation at the Meetups revolves around relationship building, the Sunday teaching, and our church values.
Groups are open to new members at all times, and people are free to move from group to group at designated points throughout the year. Groups are built by affinity, with location being the second criteria if needed.
Groups run for the approximate duration of the school year, from September to June (taking December off).
The Purpose of Groups
Ultimately, we hope that Groups will provide a rhythm of community that will encourage people to live out our values of Connect, Celebrate, and Contribute. They are our attempt to “consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,” as the author of Hebrews encourages us to do.
Aside from providing a way to tangibly Connect, Celebrate, and Contribute, we want Groups to be environments that:
Foster lasting friendships
Provide a framework for learning, teaching, and spiritual growth
Provide a simple and approachable way for new people to come to Jesus

We began planning for Christ Our King in the Spring of 2023, and officially launched in January 2024. We began renting space for our services at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in the Audubon neighborhood. In December 2024, we were gifted a building by the incredibly generous people of City Church. We now meet at 1047 W Garland Ave., and have welcomed the people of City Church into our community.

Service is usually an hour and fifteen minutes long and includes worship, time for prayer, time for hanging out, and a message from the Bible. Our church services are laid back and informal, but we take the word of God seriously.
-
Yes, we have Kids Church for ages 0-10. Kids ages 10 and up are invited to come to service with their parents or guardians, and we have activity packets to help keep them occupied.

Our sending church is Life Center, led for decades by Pastor Joe Wittwer, and now led by his son Michael Wittwer. Isaiah and Corey were both staff members at Life Center for about seven years. They’ve resourced us with education, mentorship, and finances as we planted Christ Our King. Like Life Center, we are part of the Foursquare denomination, an international movement that began in the 1920’s in Los Angeles. You can read more about Foursquare and our beliefs at Christ Our King on our Beliefs page.
