Our Vision
Our vision is God’s vision - that He would:
Reconcile everyone and everything to himself
Make all things new
Bring all people to repentance and salvation
The Eternal Godhead
We believe in one true and living God who exists in 3 persons, God the Father, Jesus the Son, and Holy Spirit. Equal in every divine perfection executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
We believe God is infinitely holy, mighty, tender, loving and glorious; worthy of all possible love and honor, confidence and obedience, majesty, dominion and might, both now and forever.
Isaiah 43:10, 1 John 4:9-15, 1 Timothy 2:5-6
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the Word of God; we believe it is true, resolute, unchanging and unchangeable. Written by holy men of old as they were moved upon and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
We believe the Bible is a light to guide the souls of a lost world from the depths of sin and sorrow to the heights of redemption, righteousness and glory. It is a strong cord of love and tenderness to drawing the repentant heart back to Christ Jesus; it is the only true ground of Christian fellowship and unity; it is the loving call of an infinitely loving God; the solemn warning, the distant thunder of the storm of wrath and retribution that shall overtake the unheeding; a danger signal that warns from hell; and a signpost that points to heaven.
2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12, Romans 15:4, Psalm 119:105, John 5:39
Humanity
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, with whom he walked in a flourishing relationship, holy and pure. Yet, through conscience disobedience, humanity fell from a right and true relationship with God into the depths of sin and iniquity, the penalty of which is; a deformed/twisted view of self, a heart and mind that is hostile towards God, and death physically and spiritually.
We believe that humanity, on it’s own, is powerless in its attempts through merritt, effort or ability, to reunite with God. And that without God’s intervention humanity will fall further into chaos.
Genesis 1:27, Romans 5:12, Romans 8:6-8, Isaiah 53:6
God’s Plan of Redemption
We believe that while we were still sinners,Christ died for us. In complete obedience to God the Father, Jesus took the sinner’s place, bearing the sinner’s iniquity and sin, receiving the sinner’s condemnation, dying the sinner’s death, and by doing so payed the sinner’s penalty, shedding his blood as the sacrifice and forgiveness for anyone who would believe in him. Through this simple faith and acceptance of the Savior Jesus Christ, the worst of sinners may be cleansed of their sin and iniquities and made as white and pure as the driven snow.
Isaiah 53:5, Hebrews 2:14-18, Hebrews 7:25, Isaiah 1:18
Salvation
We believe that salvation is wholly through grace; that we have no righteousness or good works of our own. But those who put their whole life in Jesus, repenting of their sins, believing that he is King and Savior, and confessing their faith in his life, death, burial and resurrection would receive salvation. Standing on His Word and his completed work, accepting the free gift of love and forgiveness.
Romans 3:10 & 3:23, Ephesians 2:8 & 2:13, Romans 10:9
Salvation
We believe in one body of believers, which is the church. We believe that having accepted Christ as King and Savior, it is the sacred charge of the believer to identify oneself with the visible (or physical), local church.
We believe the church is a community of believers who have associated themselves together in unity of the Holy Spirit, in obedience to the way of Jesus, worshiping God in the beauty of holiness, speaking to each other in psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs, reading and proclaiming His Word, working for the salvation of souls, edifying, encouraging, establishing one another in this one faith, as one body, of which Christ is the head.
Hebrews 10:24-25, Ephesians 4:1-6, Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 1:22-23 Matthew 28:18-20

Our Denomination
We are part of the Foursquare Denomination. What does that mean?
The Foursquare Church is an international denomination founded by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923. “Foursquare” reflects the unchanging ministry of Jesus Christ and our mission to declare it worldwide. The four squares represent the four scriptural roles of Jesus as Savior, as Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, as Healer and as Soon-Coming King.
Our participation in this denomination guides our beliefs. When you show up on a Sunday, though, we’ll look and feel like most other evangelical Protestant churches.

We began planning for Christ Our King in the Spring of 2023, and officially launched in January 2024. We began renting space for our services at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in the Audubon neighborhood. In December 2024, we were gifted a building by the incredibly generous people of City Church. We now meet at 1047 W Garland Ave., and have welcomed the people of City Church into our community.

Service is usually an hour and fifteen minutes long and includes worship, time for prayer, time for hanging out, and a message from the Bible. Our church services are laid back and informal, but we take the word of God seriously.
-
Yes, we have Kids Church for ages 0-10. Kids ages 10 and up are invited to come to service with their parents or guardians, and we have activity packets to help keep them occupied.

Our sending church is Life Center, led for decades by Pastor Joe Wittwer, and now led by his son Michael Wittwer. Isaiah and Corey were both staff members at Life Center for about seven years, and still enjoy a great relationship with Life Center. They’ve resourced us with education, mentorship, and finances as we planted Christ Our King. Like Life Center, we are part of the Foursquare denomination, an international movement that began in the 1920’s in Los Angeles. You can read more about Foursquare and our beliefs at Christ Our King on our Beliefs page.
